Scatterbrained mom, reporting for duty.

It’s bonus newsletter day, and a few quick announcements:

  • My print shop is taking a short breather before Q4 season kicks off (rest should be celebrated!). That means any orders placed between Friday, August 29 and Sunday, September 7 will begin processing on Monday, September 8.
  • If you’re itching for dinner inspiration, check out Pinch of Yum’s 10-week meal plan (with shopping lists included!). Truly a lifesaver for back-to-school chaos.
  • And—drumroll—I finished sketching the dinosaur illustration. Sneak peek coming soon. 🦕

I’ll be back in your inbox next Tuesday with our regular Studio Vibes letter, but in the meantime, here’s a little story that made me laugh at myself (and maybe will help you skip your own “oops” moment).

A missing backpack and lessons learned

It was Monday morning and I was feeling overly confident.

New school routine? Check. Doggie daycare drop-off? Check. Both kids dressed, fed, and miraculously smiling? Double check.

All I had to do was grab the pile of essentials I always leave neatly stacked on the counter: lunchboxes, water bottles, backpack, leash. Easy.

Except… the backpack.

It was, of course, in the mudroom. Nowhere near the counter. Nowhere near the car. Absolutely not with us halfway to school.

Cue the “choose-your-own-adventure” panic:
Option A: Turn around, be late, and arrive flustered.
Option B: March my preschooler into school backpack-less on Week Two of our new routine.

I went with Option B. She had her lunch box at least. No water bottle, though—so she carried mine, complete with my favorite feminist sticker. Nothing like sending your tiny pre-K kid into class with a bold pink statement water bottle.  Bonnie didn’t mind.

The moral of the story? Systems work… until they don’t. The whole point of my “put everything on the counter” trick is to make mornings brainless, automatic. But one small break in the chain, and poof—suddenly I’m the scatterbrained new mom who can’t get her child to school with the basic supplies.  I was hoping to hide that trait for at least a few more weeks…

And honestly? Framing and printing art can feel exactly the same.

You want the beautiful print you just bought to shine on your wall. But then you’re stuck in the mudroom of questions: Where should I print this file? What kind of paper weight do I need? Do I splurge on a custom frame, or can I make Target work?

It’s easy to freeze, stick that pretty print on a shelf, and never actually enjoy it.

That’s why I’ve put together step-by-step guides—so you can skip the overwhelm, avoid the “oops” moments, and get a system that works every single time. Your art deserves better than living in the mudroom.

👉 Here’s how to print and frame your art the right way.

I’ll be adding pictures to detail out the steps so for the visual friends out there, you’re covered!
