Seconds Sale early access is OPEN ✨

The Seconds Sale is open right until October 23 at midnight!

Seconds are the prints that happened while I was testing new collections. Some were paper experiments. Others were color checks, making sure the print matched my screen and the original painting. A tiny handful picked up a smudge while I was auditioning printers.

There’s only one of each. Two, max.

A few are identical to my regular prints. They just didn’t get the usual white-glove treatment on their way out of the studio, so this is your chance to snag a near-perfect print at a sale price.

Every quirk is noted on the listing, and every listing photo shows the exact print you’ll receive.

Perfectly lovely. Just not perfect.

The sale closes at midnight on Friday, October 23.

Missed snagging your favorite? I open the Seconds Sale to my email list early so they get first dibs on prints!  Join the list here for the next exclusive sale opening.

Inside My Studio

This time, the studio was a cabin in Pennsylvania.

Nathan, Bonnie, and I booked it with four friends for one reason: to experience a real fall. Not a Texas second-summer fall.

Leaf-turning, sweater-required fall.

I felt like a Texan seeing snow for the first time. I had no idea a red maple leaf could be THAT red.

Then it rained for our entire first day.

Oh no. Stuck inside a cabin all day, cooking and lounging in pajamas. How horribly tragic.

A few of us pulled chairs up to the dining table and painted.

I painted the trees, enamored by their colors.

Bonnie painted a scene of her own. One of my friends pointed out that it had the same vibe as the safari jungle painting that’s hung in Bonnie’s room since she was born.

I’m choosing to take that very personally.

The verdict: put good art up in your kid’s room. It might be quietly shaping them.

What I'm Cooking

We made an obscene amount of food. Enough to feed five more adults.

Tried and true classics: Goulash. Chicken and dumplings (similar recipe here).

From our latest cookbook: Butternut squash pasta. Turkey sandwiches. Chili.

The plan was to be adventurous and cook most of it out of By Heart. Lesson learned: make a recipe once before you double it for a crowd. This book’s “serves 4–6” fed closer to 8–10, which meant our doubled batches could have fed a small township.

Dangerously good, though.

What I'm Reading

After clawing my way through Burn of the Everflame (read: flipping pages as fast as my Kindle page turner would allow, just to get the gist of the ending), I turned to Threshing Day.

I hesitated reading it because I thought it would be another ACOTAR 4 (read: blah and feeling like an author cash-grab). But, I started seeing the hype for Threshing Day and thought perhaps I was wrong.

The hype was right.

I enjoyed every second, and for such a wee book, it packs a punch.

For the cabin trip, I grabbed The Ascended, which has been on my TBR forever. The writing pulled me in immediately, and there hasn’t been a dull moment yet.

What's Inspiring Me

Some of my favorite orders lately are the ones where people mix colors across prints, and I’m loving it.

This bundle came through last week, and it’s a 10/10:

Coming Up

If someone on your list deserves a little something, the Seconds Sale has perfectly good prints at a sweet discount through Friday.

What’s next?

Originals.

I’m planning to release a few originals with the option to add a frame through Framebridge, so your piece arrives already framed and ready to hang. I’ll pick out some frames I love. If you’d like my suggestions or want to tweak the choice, that’s on the table too.

It could be the perfect holiday gift, for someone you love or for yourself.

Real fall. Red maples. Too much chili. Prints that are lovely, not perfect.
