A tablecloth fit for a backyard garden party

2025 goal: host a dinner party on a tablecloth I designed.

So, where did this resolution come from?

  1. I needed a theme for a new collection.
  2. I wanted to celebrate the way my neighborhood friends come together around food.

It’s been a while since I’ve made something just for me. Over the past two years, I’ve refreshed older works, taken commissions, but haven’t created something completely new. And, if I’m being honest, I tend to have too many ideas (anyone else?). Narrowing it down to a collection meant for a dinner party tablecloth actually feels freeing.

Our neighborhood crew is all about food-filled gatherings—some bring veggies straight from their garden, others bake fresh bread, and somehow, someone always nails the perfect firepit setup. I kept thinking: How could my love for pattern design meet the dinner table? And then it dawned on me—why not design the tablecloth we all gather around? A celebration of shared meals, fresh ingredients, and the people who make them special.

This new collection will be based on all the foods grown in our neighborhood gardens!

New collection inspired by backyard gardening and gathering

A friend with an incredible backyard garden let me take inspiration photos for this collection. I want this tablecloth to showcase all the food he's growing! Here’s a behind the scenes peak at the garden and first sketches:

What I'm Cooking

What to Cook when you Don't Feel Like Cooking - Caroline Chambers

I finally picked up What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking by Caroline Chambers, and I’m hooked. The ribs and potatoes were a hit for a birthday lunch, and the pork and Brussels (or cabbage!) is already a family favorite. Can’t wait to cook my way through more!

Moka Pot Paintings by Shelby Monteverde

Her colors are pure joy, and I love how her work brings warmth into everyday spaces. This Moka pot piece would be perfect in a happy, well-loved kitchen.

My mom is coming over to help me figure out my grandmother’s vintage sewing machine—because before I can make this tablecloth, I need to know if this thing even works!

Wish me luck!
